Tucked into the serene Tuolumne Meadows of Yosemite National Park lies “Peace”, a 5.13d established by Ron Kauk. Described as “one of the greatest face climbs in Yosemite” Peace drew Wild Country athlete Anna Hazlett (@annahazelnutt) to an empty Tuolumne this summer. With most campsites closed, she caught a glimpse of what Camp 4 might have been like years ago. After connecting with Ron about what defines a perfect line, and the overwhelming beauty of Tuolumne, she was able to find peace and clip the chains.
Some words from Anna:
Peace - A really fitting name for this moment in my life. I finally feel at ease and comfort in where I am, surrounded by love and support in the ways that matter. Peace has been on my dream board for a few years now, so having the opportunity to come to Tuolumne for a week and enjoy this MASTERPIECE of a climb has been magical. The entire process was so joyful, from learning how to hold knobs in unique ways to clipping the anchors this morning. Not a bad way to start off 27!
